Dev-C++ however is also a very outdated and unmaintained piece of software, and not really necessary given more modern alternatives such as Code::Blocks (which can also be used portably).
There are a large number of reasons why you shouldn't use Dev-C++, and in my personal opinion little reason anyone would still want to do so.
